We're Open-Sourcing Productivity!

To encourage other developers to help improve the app, we've decided to open-source Productivity, meaning the source code for the app is now available for download for free. We've made a GitHub repository with the source code and we're adding chunks of the code to it regularly. The code is written entirely in Visual Basic .NET, so anyone who knows the language should find it easy to work on the code and help improve it. To make it easier for other developers to work on it, we've removed third-party paid components and switched to free ones. We still do use other open-source third party components though, whose full source code is available on GitHub and CodeProject. Links to these source codes are given in the Readme file of the project. So what does this mean for you if you're not a developer? It simply means that although the app hasn't had many updates in quite a while, it's surely not a dead project, and we're simply reaching out to other dev

Version 3.0 Released!

After over a month of waiting, version 3.0 of Productivity has finally been released! The new version features a new UI, bug fixes in CompLock, automatic update checking and a new Scheduler feature as well. You can download the new version at Softpedia . Like our Facebook page to get the latest news about the app.

Productivity 3.0 Will Release on June 9

We're finally putting the finishing touches on version 3.0 of Productivity. We've discussed most of the new features in the previous blog post. Apart from these changes, we've also fixed some bugs in CompLock and the automatic update checking, which used to return an error. We hope you like the new interface and features.

Version 3.0 Will Release Next Month

We know it's been a long while since we posted anything, but we've just been a little busy. However, we do have news for you, and Productivity 3.0 will release next month. Our target date for version 3.0 is June 7, but that's tentative and may change by a few days. In the meantime, we have been working on the app and have some great stuff lined up for you in your next update! We'll show you around. UI Changes The first major change you'll notice is that we've revamped the UI of the main app and some of its features. The main window looks like this now:   The new interface is more organized and grouped, making it easier to find all the features. It also has a more clean look to it. Of course, the main window isn't the only one with the change. For example, Journal looks like this:   The new Ribbon has a backstage view like the Office 2013 products. Scheduler This is the most exciting feature we have in this release. The new Scheduler

Version 2 Will Release on March 31

We're finally done with the development of version 2, and now we're testing the application for bugs. Version 2 brings improvements to some features of the application, along with new features and bug fixes. Here is the complete change log for the new version: Bug fixes: Journal, CompLock, ToDo List General:  Update Check added Nap Alarm added with Dymaxion, Uberman and Everyman sleep cycle support Journal: Search added Attachments feature added Timetable Manager: Modify details feature added Today menu added The Attachment feature in Journal lets you attach a picture to your journal entries, making it easier to store your memories. Only one picture per entry is allowed for now, and you can't add attachments to previously added entries. The Nap Alarm feature lets you quickly set up an alarm for a nap, up to a maximum of 40 minutes (we believe a nap shouldn't last any longer). In future versions, we'll let you customize the alarm with options like

Productivity may go Open Source

We're considering making Productivity an open source application, in addition to being free. This means that we will host the source code of the application on a website, and you can view and modify it as per your needs. Making the application open source has the advantage that other developers can help in identifying and fixing bugs and also give suggestions and create derivative works of the project. We'd like your opinion on this matter about whether or not the application should go open source, and with a positive response, we'll take the required steps to do so.

Version 1.0 Released!

Version 1.0 has been released, and is finally up for download on various download sites. This version fixes several bugs in the app, and brings a Timetable Manager feature as well.  The Timetable Manager feature is best suited for students preparing for examinations who need to plan out what to study and when. Although the feature is somewhat primitive in its features currently, that will improve in future versions. You can download the new version, which is 20.2 MB, from any of the following sites: Softpedia   FreewareFiles.com   Softonic   We hope you find the new version useful!

Version 1.0 to Release Next Week

We're nearly done with the development of version 1.0, and we can finally release version 1.0. This version comes with the feature which was requested by the person who gave the idea for the app (Bhavana Sanghi), a Timetable Manager, apart from quite a few bug fixes. We have, of course, received some suggestions for a few UI changes and other stuff, but we'll roll those out in the next update, since our primary goal is to get a bug-free version out first. The new version shouldn't be a much bigger download than the previous version, so expect a download of around 22 MB or so. We'll let you know when the next version is up for download.

Productivity to include Nap Timer

It's a pretty well-known fact that many of top company CEOs sleep pretty little. For example, Marissa Mayer recently revealed that she sleeps only 4 hours a day. For many of us, that's an impossible feat, but some of us take naps during the day, which allow for less sleep at night.  You could be following the Dymaxion, Uberman or Everyman sleep cycles, or you could simply be taking a nap when you're tired. Whatever it may be, Productivity can help you wake up with a nap timer feature that will be added. You need to simply choose how long the nap will be, and it'll wake you up. Future versions will let you set the alarm so that you'll have to solve math problems to dismiss it (for people who dismiss the alarm and go back to sleep).

Version 0.4 is up for Download!

It hasn't been very long since we finished developing version 0.4, and it's already up for download on FreewareFiles.com! Here's the complete change log for this version: Bug fix in Sticky Notes Social Blocker Feature Updated Help UI Changed CompLock plays sound at end of break period Workout feature added You can download the new version here. This version is portable too, and on extracting the zip file you get only 3 files this time as opposed to more in version 0.3, making it easier to use the app. Here's a screenshot of the main application window.

Version 0.4 Releasing This Week!

We've been working on the next version of Productivity, version 0.4. There's not much that's new in this version except a feature called "Wake Up", which is a series of instructions for a good morning workout. You'll have options for a basic as well as an advanced workout, and both will last around 8 minutes.  For those starting the course newly, we strongly recommend the basic course, and when you're comfortable with it, you can switch to the advanced course. Apart from this new feature is a set of bug fixes that we discovered. We can't say what the exact release date will be, but we'll surely let you know once it's out :)

Version 0.3 Released!

We've finally released version 0.3 of Productivity! You can download it from Softpedia at the following link:  http://www.softpedia.com/progChangelog/Productivity-Changelog-248790.html  Below are the new features and improvements in this version: Sticky Notes can be saved to files Work cycles feature added to CompLock with preset options More statistics added to Flash Cards New UI for Notes Facebook Blocker added Journal feature added Tell us what you think :)

Version 0.3 Releasing This Week!

We're nearly done with the development of version 0.3, which is mainly a bunch of improvements for each of the existing features.  Notes now has a new interface and you can save all your notes in a file, apart from viewing all your notes in a single window rather than multiple different ones. CompLock steals the spotlight in this version, with a major update. CompLock now includes "work cycles". A work cycle is basically composed of a work period where the computer is CompLocked, and a break period. You can specify the durations of the work and the break periods, and also the number of cycles. There are also preset options, which have been used by experts themselves. The Flash Cards now gives more statistics about your learning progress after each session. We're also adding a new feature to help you with your morning exercise. The exercise given has been scientifically proven to be the most effective, and it lasts just 8 minutes :)  Productivity 0.3 will al

Our Facebook Page!

Apart from working on the app itself, we're also in the process of setting up our online profile, and the next thing is a Facebook page! To visit the page, click here. The Facebook page will be yet another source of updates about the app, so head over and like it! Apart from updates, we will also post about tips for the best use of the features to fully maximize how efficiently you work.

Version 0.2 Released!

After quite some testing and work, version 0.2 of Productivity has finally been released! Apart from the stuff we said we'd change in the previous post, we've also added a Relax feature as a kind of bonus. Go on, check it out! The new version is available for download on Softpedia so make sure you try it out :) We've also given a portable version of the app in case you want to carry it on a USB drive, for instance. Now, those of you who were reading between the lines might wonder what happened to version 0.1. Well, we leave that to you to speculate on ;)

Version 0.1 Releasing Next Week!

Most of the work on version 0.1 is finally over, and it's almost time for release! After searching for and removing bugs and finishing off the Help section, the app will be sent to download sites to be updated. I can't confirm the exact release date, but it'll be done by next week. Here's a quick review of what you can expect new in the next version: Bug fixes in ToDo List Bug fixes in Sticky Notes Bug fixes in Prioritize Improvements to ToDo List - Sorting, overdue tasks grayed out, printing the list, removing overdue tasks, updating tasks UI Changes Additions to ToDo List - Task ID, Start Date, Gantt Chart Improvement in Flash Cards - basic stats now given at end of session Relax feature added There is a Help section in case you're stuck with any of the features too :)

Another Beta Release

Productivity version 0.1 Beta is already up for download on Softpedia, and contrary to what was planned earlier, there will be another beta release before the final version comes out. Please do note that the beta version has some incomplete features, but whatever is done should work properly. If you encounter any errors, please submit a bug report by commenting. The first thing you’ll notice in the next beta is the new UI. It’s a cleaner and more easy to use UI than before, and we’ve also included a Help section to help you get started (not that you’ll need it). Here’s the new UI:   The major reason for releasing another beta is that we wanted some more feedback about the app so we can make it the way you want. The most significant development has been done to the ToDo List feature, whose UI has also changed a bit. Unfortunately we can’t confirm a release date yet, but we’ll surely let you know soon:)

Version 0.1 Beta!

Version 0.1 Beta was released just a few days back, and it gives you a few glimpses of what the app will provide you. Work on the new version is already going well. It must be noted that the beta is still, well, a beta so it does have a few bugs and annoyances, but those will be fixed in the final version, version 0.1. The beta includes five main features, CompLock, ToDo List, Sticky Notes, Flash Cards and Prioritize. Although CompLock is a fully stable and near complete feature, the others will be developed in the upcoming versions. Productivity is still a new app so it might take some time to gain ground, but rest assured that it will happen at a good pace and that it will be better than the tools you currently use :)
